USCAP 2013 Recap

Baltimore

The Society for Cardiovascular Pathology had a wonderful collection of meetings and events in Baltimore, Maryland. The Saturday night event consisted of two excellent lectures by Drs. Duke Cameron and Tom Traill concerning the history of congenital heart disease and late complications in adults who have undergone repair as children. The lectures were followed by light fare and a display of original plastinated hearts that were operated on by Dr. Alfred Blalock.

Sunday morning had wonderful lectures on the role of angiogenesis in disease. This was followed by short presentations of the young investigator award nominees. Afterwards, Dr. Gimbrone gave his Distinguished Achievement Award speech. That evening, we had our annual awards banquet at Aldo's in the heart of Little Italy. The wine was superb.

During the USCAP meeting, there were excellent presentations during the poster session, the oral session and the evening specialty conference. Despite the threat of a major snow storm and all airlines cancelling their flights, everyone eventually made it home in good spirits.

Everyone is looking forward to much better weather at the 2014 USCAP meeting to be held in San Diego, California.
