November/December 2012 Issue (Volume 21, Number 6)

Dear Colleagues,

The content of the November-December 2012 issue of Cardiovascular Pathology again provides an interesting assembly of original articles on human cardiovascular disease and experimental studies as well as some pertinent clinical case reports, summarized as follows:

  • Human Population-based and Clinicopathological Studies:
  • Antibody-mediated Rejection
  • Coronary Artery Disease Risk Factors
  • IgG4 and Infectious Aortitis
  • Parvovirus B19 in Myocarditis

  • Experimental Studies:
  • IL-6 and IL-10 in Aneurysm Explants
  • Intimal Hyperplasia Model
  • TGF- Superfamily Cytokines and Atherogenesis

  • Clinical Case Reports:
  • Structural failure of a Mitroflow pericardial bioprosthesis
  • Pathology of Zotarolimus-eluting stent implant
  • Rare case of fatal right ventricular cardiac decompensation
  • Pathology of pulmonary valve-in-valve implants
  • Left atrial appendageal tuberculosis

I recently attended a very informative Editors' Conference sponsored by our publisher, Elsevier. Among other things I learned a lot about metrics used to evaluate journals, including the Impact Factor. I prepared a white paper on the topic for the Editorial Board which I want to now share with the members of the Society. This document is found here. Hopefully it will give you some insight into the standing of Cardiovascular Pathology among pathology specialty journals, which in my opinion is quite good.
